“Once Upon a Time” Exhibition Opened
Organized by our University Technical Sciences Vocational School (TBMYO) staff Lecturer Dr. Abdulkadir Öznülüer, the “Once Upon a Time” Exhibition attracted great interest from art lovers.
The exhibition featured 24 works prepared by Lecturer Dr. Abdülkadir Öznülüer as part of his 5-year doctoral study. The exhibition, a first in Muş, conveyed the message that more importance should be given to works by contemporary artists rather than traditional works of art.
Speaking at the exhibition, which was opened by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and TBMYO Director Dr. Lecturer Member Fatih Şevgin and attracted great interest from participants, Dr. Öznülüer said, “Today, we opened an exhibition where we exhibited all the works I have done throughout my doctoral process. This work consists of a total of 24 works that were created at the end of a 5-year process. The exhibited works also have a story of progression from the beginning to my latest works chronologically. The technique in my works generally consists of collage and ready-made object synthesis. There are more contemporary arrangements in these works,” he said. Dr. Öznülüer explained the purpose of the exhibition with the following words: “Our exhibition tried to reflect the fact that important works performed by influential artists, especially during the Renaissance, and many works that are still known and valued today, were met with a sensitivity that was not appropriate for our age, with a critical perspective in our paintings and works. In other words, it was emphasized that classical works that completed their mission 600 hundred years ago should not actually have much place in contemporary art today. As artists of this age, we can move forward by using the knowledge, technologies, methods and materials of our age while producing a contemporary art work. We can call it a critical method, a style in order to leave the past behind and look forward. As the name of the exhibition suggests, I think that “Once Upon a Time”, in other words, continuing the artistic tradition that existed back then, will not contribute to us in any way. They may be physical, but if we cannot sufficiently value and revive our own works today, I think they will always remain in the background behind the paintings and painters of that period. For this reason, we decided to implement such a theme. The works of that day may be physical today, but today we must be able to put forward a new idea and create a new tradition. Only then will artistic success come. This is the current reflection of a style and style that has been formed over a very long period of time. I would like to thank all art lovers, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and our TBMYO Director Dr. Lecturer Fatih Şevgin, who honored our exhibition and did not withhold their support, and I wish you a pleasant viewing. Stay with art…” he said.
