International Mixed Plastic Arts Exhibition Meets with Art Lovers
Our university is hosting an international art exhibition. The “International Mixed Plastic Arts Exhibition EAST YORUM”, which includes distinguished examples of traditional and modern art, opened its doors at the Congress and Culture Center. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat opened the exhibition, which includes works by seventy artists from Turkey and abroad. Our Rector’s wife Nilüfer Polat, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Abdüllatif Tüzer, Secretary General Lecturer Harun Demir, our academic and administrative staff, artists and students attended the exhibition opening.
In his speech at the opening, our Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat expressed his satisfaction with this international exhibition organized by the Department of Handicrafts and said that our university gained increasing momentum in terms of artistic activities with the opening of the Department of Handicrafts. Prof. Dr. Polat, who emphasized the importance of the Department of Handicrafts, which has a strong staff consisting of experts in each field, for our region, stated that painting, sculpture, graphic design, calligraphy, illumination, miniature, marbling and other branches of art play an important role in terms of the adoption of aesthetic understanding in society.
Our University is the Locomotive of Muş in Art
Prof. Dr. Polat, who emphasized that the studies carried out in the academic field are of great value in terms of keeping traditional art methods alive and developing them with current forms, gave examples of the works produced in the Department of Handicrafts and said that the 4.5-meter-tall Sultan Alparslan statue, which is currently being built for the new entrance of our complex, will be the symbol of our university when it is completed. Prof. Dr. Polat, who thanked our academic artists for the exhibition organization and the works they carried out, stated that our university will continue to be the locomotive of Muş in art as in many other fields.
Head of the Department of Handicrafts, Instructor Selahattin Aslan, also provided information about the works carried out in the department in his speech. Instructor Aslan, who stated that the newly established ceramics workshop will be added to the painting, sculpture, illumination, marbling, jewelry design, oil painting, model-based pattern, stone and wood carving workshops within the department, said that with the opening of the Architectural Decorative Arts Program under the Department of Handicrafts, many students have chosen the department. Instructor Aslan, who stated that they expect the number of students in the department to increase from year to year, expressed that they aim to carry out effective and permanent artistic activities for both our university and Muş in the future.
Valuable Works Side by Side
After the speeches, our Rector Prof. Dr. Polat, who toured the exhibition with his wife Nilüfer Hanımefendi, visited the Sultan Alparslan statue signed by Lecturer Erhan Karadağ, one of the instructors of the department of handicrafts, the portrait of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed by Lecturer Abdulkadir Öznülüer, the illumination work of Lecturer Mikail Sevindik, the He was closely interested in Serdar Dik’s oil portrait work and Lecturer Doğan Çelebi’s engraving works. In the exhibition, which also included the work of Atatürk University Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Prof. Mustafa Bulat, painting, sculpture and traditional arts as well as graphic design works were presented to art lovers.
Organized by our university’s academic artists Lecturer Selahattin Aslan, Lecturer Abdulkadir Öznülüer, Lecturer Erhan Karadağ, Lecturer Mikail Sevindik and Lecturer Serdar Dik, the International Mixed Plastic Arts Exhibition EAST YORUM presents seventy works of traditional and modern paintings, sculptures, illumination, marbling, miniature, calligraphy and graphic design as well as carpet-rug genres by well-known artists in their fields. The exhibition at the Congress and Culture Center will be open to visitors until May 16, 2018.
