Traditional Turkish Arts Discussed at TBMYO
An event titled "The Impact of Traditional, Endangered, and Forgotten Turkish Arts on Turkish Culture" was organized by the Handicrafts Department of our University's Technical Sciences Vocational School (TBMYO), in coordination with the Turan Ambassadors Organization, the Telli Turna Nature Association, and the Association for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The program, coordinated by the Head of the Handicrafts Department, Lecturer Mikail Sevindik, and held in the Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, featured educator and author Behiye Yılmaz as the speaker. Yılmaz focused particularly on Ebru art, a traditional Turkish art form, sharing valuable information with the participants. Touching upon the deep-rooted history of Ebru art in Turkish culture, Yılmaz stated that this art form is an aesthetic value created through the harmony of water and colors. She also emphasized that Ebru art is not merely a visual art, but is directly related to patience, peace, and spirituality, highlighting it as a special art form that soothes the human soul and reflects the inner world.
The program, which saw a large turnout, was attended by Muş Alparslan University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Talat Körpınar, Technical Sciences Vocational School Director Dr. Fatih Şevgin, department heads, academic staff, students, and numerous guests.
Also present were Nationalist Movement Party Provincial Chairman Osman Yüce, Turan Ambassadors Organization (TET) Deputy General Chairman İmran Öğütveren, TET Disciplinary Board Chairman Fahri Gültekin, and TET Muş Provincial Chairman Osman Avcı. Kasım Avcı and Turan Sur represented the Telli Turna Association and the Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection Association.
The program, which was followed with great interest by the participants, concluded with an emphasis on the importance of preserving traditional Turkish arts, passing them on to future generations, and protecting cultural heritage. The event ended with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to guest Behiye Yılmaz and a commemorative photograph.
